Tnooz: Social seating one year on: move over airlines – hotels, rail and events get a piece of the action
But perhaps more exciting for the industry as a whole is what SeatID is doing. The startup has extended its service to hotels, trains, online ticketing and stadia.
Not only can users find useful contact or a like-minded person on a plane using social media profiles but also they can do the same for trains, sporting and other events or use profiles to see who is staying or has stayed at a hotel.
SeatID was also named a Gartner Cool Vendors 2013 in social software and collaboration.

ClickZ: Travelers Fly High with Social Seating Solution
Flying alone is always the luck of the draw. Sometimes you get the person of your dreams sitting next to you (my cousin met his wife on a plane!) and sometimes you get that guy, yes that one, that makes you want to put your headphones in, close your eyes and pretend that he’s not there. Fear no more – well for passengers flying on Ukrainian carrier, AeroSvit, anyway. The airline has partnered with SeatID to launch a social traveling experience for its passengers, aimed at allowing individuals (who opt-in) the ability to see who else is on the chosen flight.

Feeder: The startup that will allow you to fly with your friends [Hebrew]

TheNextWeb: SeatID helps you avoid the crying baby and the smelly hippy on flights
SeatID does social seating as a SaaS solution for airlines and travel websites, enabling individuals who opt-in the ability to see who else is on the chosen flight. More than that, it also lets people see who will be on other flights before purchasing a ticket. I see professional sales reps around the world taking advantage of that one. My favorite bit about SeatID is that you don’t have to be on the same social network to see each other.

TTG Digital: Focus on social seating
Social media allows you to see exactly who’s already booked the seat next door. The key benefit is the opportunity for on-board networking. The potential for agents and operators should not be underestimated either. Since the SeatID product can be ported easily on to other retail websites, OTAs selling flights could incorporate it to give customers the ability to see exactly who is on-board. Operators, meanwhile, could use SeatID to show prospective clients the social profiles of others already booked on their next group tour or cruise.
